Construction Induction White Card

Work Safely in the Construction Industry [CPCCOHS1001A]

This training is frequently referred to as the Green or White Card or Construction Induction training.

To work on any construction site in Australia you must have a current OHS Construction Induction certificate, the 'National White Card'.

In NSW WHS construction induction training is delivered through Registered Training Organisations (RTO's) accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and approved by WorkCover.

The Workplace Safety Centre's Construction Induction training is conducted under the auspices and in partnership with Allens Training Pty Ltd [RTO 90909] in partial completion of CPCC10107 Certificate I in Construction

When is the training held?

Public training courses are run weekly at our training rooms in St Marys. Training is held on Friday one week and Saturday the following week. See our training calendar for dates

The course starts at 8.30am and normally finishes at approximately 4pm.

How much does the training cost?

The course cost is $110 - this includes the $21 WorkCover application fee.

Proof of Identity is required

NSW WorkCover requires that that all people complete an Evidence of Identity (EOI) form and provide original documents showing their

  • name
  • photo
  • date of birth, and
  • current address

to the value of 100 points to the trainer prior to commencing the course. Click here for additional information about Proof of Identity documents.

Special provisions have been made for proof of identity for school students, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders, & people from overseas who have been in Australia for less than six weeks. Information about POI Special Provisions can be found here.

What does the training involve?

The 'White Card' training is a one-day course which covers

  • Work Health & Safety legal requirements

  • Construction hazards and the way they can be controlled to prevent injury to people 

  • Work Health & Safety communication and reporting processes 

  • Work Health & Safety incident response procedures

Participants who successfully complete the written assessment and practical group exercises receive a Statement of Training which acts as an interim White Card for 60 days until the actual White Card has been processed and dispatched by WorkCover.

Participants also receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry in partial completion of COCC10107 Certificate I in Construction.

Asthma & Anaphylaxis for Child care

This course is a skill set combination course designed for child care workers containing the following units:

22282VIC Course in Management of Asthma Risks & Emergencies in the Workplace

and

22099VIC Course in first aid management of anaphylaxis

This course covers the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to asthma & anaphylaxis and provides advance training in the use of autoinjuectors for the treatment of anaphylaxis and the advance treatments associated with asthma.

This course has been approved by ACECQA and meets the requirements for qualifications in Emergency Asthma Management and the First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis.

Note: if first aid qualifications are required as well then you should enrol in HLTAID006 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care establishment.

Flexible mode: completion of pre-course study plus 3 hours practical training

Face to face: 6 hours of face to face training [only available as an in-house course to groups of 10 or more]

Award Issued

Students who successfully complete this training will be awarded the following qualifications

22282VIC Course in Management of Asthma Risks & Emergencies in the Workplace

and

22099VIC Course in first aid management of anaphylaxis

Provide CPR [HLTAID001]

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation [CPR], until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

This unit of competency is suitable for workers and professionals who require a refresher or first-time nationally-accredited qualification in CPR.

For members of the police force additional training and assessment can be provided in the use of the pocket mask.

Provide CPR is a nationally recognised unit of competency and is on the ACECQA approved list of first aid training courses for child care workers.

This nationally recognised training is delivered in partnership with, and under the auspices of, Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909

The Centre offers training for both Health & Safety Representives (HSR) and for Work Health & Safety Committees.

Details regarding the training are below. Public and private courses are available for HSR training while Committee training is conducted as a private course tailored to your organisation's needs.

The Return to Work (RTW) Coordinator training course is held over 2 days and will provide your Return to Work Coordinator with the skills they need to perform their role effectively.

A return to work coordinator is a worker nominated by an employer (or a contractor engaged specifically for the role), whose principal purpose is to assist injured workers to return to work in a safe and durable manner. Under workers compensation law, Category 1 employers (ie. employers whose basic tariff premium exceeds $50,000, as well as self insurers, and employers who are insured by a specialised insurer and who employ more than 20 workers) must have a return to work coordinator.

The Return toThe Return to Work Coordinator must hold a WorkCover certificate certifying attendance at the WorkCover accredited two-day course ‘Introduction to return to work coordination'.
